Solexperts is actually heavily involved in the research program at Andra's underground laboratory at Bure (www.andra.fr). Solexperts is in charge of the geotechnical, hydrogeological and geochemical instrumentation of the experiments.
In addition, an extensive investigation program to characterize the host rock (clay formation, Callovo Oxfordien) is carried out by our test engineers. Mainly hydraulic and pneumatic permeability tests and gas tracer tests are performed in the low permeable rock. Hydraulic and pneumatic tests are often combined with deformation measurements, in order to study coupled processes.
In the fall of 2004 the experimental niche was completely excavated and ready for the instrumentation. Within less than 3 months Solexperts installed multi packer systems, multi-piezometers, high precision axial deformation measurements systems, inclinometer chains, extensometers etc. in more than 30 boreholes. In the same time 2 geochemical in-situ experiments were set up and started. During summer and fall 2005 the experiments in the laboratory drifts are equipped with Solexperts borehole completions and surface equipment. |
