Renovation of the ‘Geelhüsli’ shooting range in Appenzell with baLCon elements
The renovation project for the ‘Geelhüsli’ shooting range, designed by the architectural firm Werner Schäpfer, is currently (2025/2026) in the implementation phase. Both the 20 m and 50 m shooting ranges will be equipped with baLCon elements and new bullet trap systems. The facility now complies with the applicable environmental and safety requirements in an exemplary manner. The elegant new target systems also blend in perfectly with their surroundings.
A showcase project for successful renovation
The renovation of the Geelhüsli is a prime example of a successful shooting range renovation project. Its success is primarily based on competent planning and project management by proven experts. Another factor in its success is the use of new, innovative components (baLCon elements) for ballistic protection, which not only ensure compliance with applicable safety and environmental requirements, but can also be easily installed in front work. Finally, the success of the project is largely due to the tremendous commitment of the shooters themselves, who are lending a hand with the renovation work in order to keep costs under control.
