Terzo Valico dei Giovi-Nodo di Genova

The Terzo Valico dei Giovi-Nodo di Genova project is a new high-speed, high-capacity line designed to improve connections between the Ligurian port system and the main railway lines in northern Italy and the rest of Europe. The Terzo Valico dei Giovi is an essential part of the Genoa-Milan link, which is part of the Rhine-Alpine Corridor that will connect Genoa to the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam, one of the axes of the European integrated transport infrastructure network (TEN-T) planned for a more efficient movement of goods and passengers within the territory of the European Union.

Yielding tunnel lining with hiDCon® / hiDSte®

In the 27 km long tunnel "Galleria Valico", difficult geological conditions were encountered in individual sections. In these compressive and conventionally excavated tunnel sections, a yielding tunnel lining system is used, based on HEB steel arches with hiDSte® elements and a shotcrete layer with hiDCon® elements. In highly compressive conditions, hiDSte® elements with HEB profiles provide the desired deformability and the required high lining resistance.
