Modular Extensometer

For measuring axial deformations and displacements in boreholes - the Modular Extensometer is a technical advancement of our proven Uni-Rod Extensometer. Electrical displacement transducers are used for automatic measurement. For manual measurement, a mechanical meter, a digital caliper or a portable electronic sensor with a digital reading device can be used.

The modular extensometer consists of the following elements:

  • Single measuring head for one measuring point, made of stainless steel tube with watertight closing protective cap
  • Centering disc to combine the single extensometers into a multiple extensometer
  • Extensometer rods to connect the touch pin in the measuring head with the anchor. The extensometer rods usually consist of a GRP Ø 7 mm rod in a PE 16 x 2 mm protective tube. Other rod designs (e.g. stainless steel or invar steel) are available on request
  • Extensometer anchor made of a thread bar or GRP with anchor rings

Instrumentation example: Combined installation with inclinometer and extensometer in one borehole.
